I have been looking for a high quality food dehydrator and I was very happy to find this one when I did. Real good ones are difficult to find and I have been looking for a long time. The Excalibur 3900 does everything I needed a dehydrator to do and more. That’s really the reason I decided to write a review, because I am so happy with this particular appliance.

It is just the right size and just the right price I couldn’t pass a deal like this up. I could not be happier with its performance.

How durable is the Excalibur 3900?
The Excalibur 3900 is a heavy duty family model, built to last.

What are the specs on the trays?
There are 9 trays made of polycarbonate. They also have polyscreen inserts. In all there is 15 feet of tray space available.

Will the fan circulate the air efficiently?
Yes it will, the Excalibur is equipped with a 7 inch fan which will circulate the air around the unit to aid in drying the food properly.

Is the thermostat adjustable?
It is a fully adjustable thermostat. It can be set anywhere between 85 to 145 degrees Fahrenheit.

How much should I expect to pay for a dehydrator like this?
Most places list this particular unit at about $270. But right now amazon.com has it for less than $220. That’s a really good deal for a high quality dehydrator like the Excalibur 3900.

I have been looking for the perfect food dehydrator; and it had to be reasonably priced too. I was so happy when I found the Nesco American Harvest Food Dehydrator Kit. It had everything I wanted plus is priced within a budget friendly range. As soon as I tried it I knew I wanted to do a review on this particular product.

I really thought that all dehydrators were just alike. That is until I found the Nesco American Harvest. I simply could not be happier with my purchase! So here is my review of the Nesco American Harvest FD-1018P Food Dehydrator Kit.

What to look for when buying a food dehydrator:
After looking at various types of food dehydrators I generated my list of necessary features. There are some things that are not optional. Here are the features a dehydrator should have:

Does the Nesco Food Dehydrator have enough power to dry foods thoroughly?
It has a powerful 1000-watt motor that will dry foods quickly. This means that it will be done quickly in hours rather than days.

How many trays come with the unit for drying food?
The unit comes equipped with 8 trays as a standard feature. But it is expandable up to 30 trays.

Does it have an adjustable thermostat?
There is one simple knob to control the heat from 95 degrees up to 150 degrees.
